Millionaires across the globe will be fighting to be the next owner of the largest pink diamond to ever be auctioned - with a price tag starting at £15million.
The diamond, known as a 'Fancy Vivid Pink', is so rare that only one in 100,000 diamonds possess the same colour depth.
The 16 carat stone is on display in London this week as part of its international tour ahead of its sale in Geneva next month.
Christie's Auction House, which is selling the cushioned shape gem, set as a ring, explained that it is virtually unheard of for a diamond of this quality to weigh so much.
The Fancy Vivid is rivalled only by the Queen's 23 carat 'Williamson' brooch, given to her as a wedding gift by Canadian geologist John Williamson.
Rahul Kadakia, Christie's International Head of Jewellery said: 'As large and rare coloured diamonds of this calibre become increasingly hard to locate, this 16.08 carat Fancy Vivid pink diamond comes to market at a time when great gems are mirroring prices achieved for masterpieces in the world of fine art.
'Collectors are looking to jewels as savvy investments that are both beautiful and can appreciate considerably in value over a relatively short period of time.'
