The NCDIA London Chapter hosted an event on November 10th in cooperation with GIA at GIA’s London headquarters with guest speaker, David Warren from Christie’s. More than fifty attendees joined the event and the reception following.
NCDIA member Yves Frey, of Yves Frey Diamonds, organized the launch of the UK Chapter with the cooperation of Edward Johnson, GIA’s Director of Global Business Development in Europe.
Speaking about the event, Yves said:
“A fascinating talk was given by David Warren, Christie’s Senior International Jewellery Director titled ‘A Fortune Through My Hands’ on his 40 years at Christie’s on the trail of coloured diamonds. David kept his audience enthralled for the best part of an hour with wonderful photographs of diamonds and jewels.”
Yves explains how the launch came about:
“Finally, NCDIA has a Chapter in the UK. The idea was in our minds for quite some time. For our launch, the two main challenges were: To find a venue and to hold an event that would be remembered.
As a Belgian, I had no opinion on the 3rd challenge: whether to write the word “colour” in British English or “color” in the American way.
It took place in the GIA Campus on November 10th, thanks to the hospitality of Edward Johnson, GIA’s Director of Global Business Development in Europe.
Following David’s presentation, I spoke about the advantages of NCDIA Membership and how becoming a member has benefited my business.
More than 50 people attended, including dealers, retailers, gemmologists, and designers.
Attendees were then invited to carry on networking at a nearby hotel where discussions continued until 11 pm and everyone left looking forward to the next event!”
